Why Beekeeping

Beekeeping is almost a native activity in Tanzania, grown on small scale more-or-less as part of the typical household establishment that comprises vegetation and trees for furits, shade, beekeeping, and occasional harvesting for wood products. With a favourable climate and conducive extension and regulatory services, it is an industry that has got minimal cost of entry but an unlimited potential for future growth.

The markets are there: even the local market for the bread-and-butter products honey and beeswax) is still largely unserved, not to mention international markets in climates and countries that are not endowed with the climatic conditions or agricultural land for honey keeping. In due course, we would develop new products such as propolis, beevenom, queen rearing, contract pollination, and so on.
